Associate Engineer, Electric

Center Point Energy is looking for an Associate Engineer, Electric to join our Team, located in Houston, TX
You will have the ability to provide engineering and technical support associated with managing energy efficiency (EE) programs, project evaluation, inspections, and regulator filings.

To be successful in this role you will:
  • Review EE technical specifications for compliance to EE program and regulatory rules.
  • Act as a technical advisor to EE program managers, staff consultants, and outside contractors on technical reviews and project inspections.
  • Perform engineering inspections of EE projects on an as needed basis.
  • Coordinate multiple projects involving customers, contractors, and internal departments.
  • Document and run technical models that ensure EE programs meet regulatory guidelines and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain calculation files used in everyday EE measure calculations.
  • Work with measurement and verification provider and implement their M&V suggestions.
  • Help develop business cases and technical requirements to special EE measures.
  • Develop case studies for new EE measures for inclusion in regulatory rules.
  • Ensure that EE program reporting, evaluation, measurement and verification withstands the highest level of scrutiny.

Your background includes:
  • Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • Requires 0 to1 year of technical experience related to the conservation of energy and building science.

A bonus to have:
  • Able to apply basic knowledge of heat and mass transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
  • Able to interpret and analyze mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings.
  • Knowledge in VBA, Python, R, or Matlab a plus.
  • Knowledge in energy modeling software (eQUEST, TRACE, HAP, REM/RATE) a plus.
  • Able to use mathematics, including trigonometry and calculus, to complete complex engineering design calculations and relate. mathematical solutions to actual energy efficiency situations.
  • Uphold fiduciary responsibility in everyday decisions.
  • Able to prioritize and schedule tasks, pay attention to detail, and demonstrate good organizational skills.
  • Able to manage time effectively, handle multiple tasks and priorities, operate under general direction, develop own work methods as required yet follow standard procedures, and determine when management is to be consulted on unusual situations.
  • Able to communicate effectively with internal financial resources, customers, program managers, and others in written and verbal form.
  •  Able to use personal computer software proficiently, such as those for word processing, spreadsheets, database managers, presentations, and electronic mail.
  • Able to provide and maintain a valid state driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Able to comply with all company driver safety policy requirements.
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures and do so consistently, take all the required training courses and do so timely.
