An underwriter decides whether to provide insurance and under what terms through detailed risk analysis and assessment. Upon completion of our in-depth training program, you will be given the tools to effectively underwrite and manage an assigned renewal book of business.
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to travel periodically (less than 10% of time) and must possess a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities
- Successful completion of the AMERISAFE Underwriting Operations Basic Development Program (training program)
- Maintenance and servicing of an assigned book of renewal workers compensation policies that contribute to AMERISAFE profit and production goals
- Applying sound judgment in determining an insurance risk’s acceptability through detailed research and risk analysis
- Negotiating pricing and coverage details within the designated level of authority
- Working as an effective team member to develop and foster professional relationships with internal and external customers
- Participating in projects, professional development opportunities, and special assignments
- Others as assigned
